We are hiring an experienced Electrical Substation Engineer for a hybrid role supporting like‑for‑like equipment replacements and upgrades across existing substations. This position combines office‑based engineering work with on‑site field coordination, focused entirely on brownfield substation projects.

This is a hybrid position in the Greater Denver Area, requiring regular collaboration with field teams and time on site as projects require.

What you will be doing

  • Lead like‑for‑like replacements and upgrades of substation equipment including breakers, switches, transformers, relays, bushings, and arresters
  • Troubleshoot existing substation equipment and support corrective actions
  • Develop and adjust engineering designs to support replacement and maintenance work
  • Initiate projects, order materials, and prepare scoped work packages
  • Coordinate closely with construction crews and substation maintenance teams (hybrid office + field work)
  • Manage schedules, outages, and communication with all project stakeholders
  • Deliver projects through field execution, close‑out, and completion

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2.5 or more years of experience in substation engineering design
  • Strong knowledge of substation equipment and maintenance workflows
  • Experience supporting brownfield substation replacements or upgrades
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment that includes both office and field responsibilities

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer license
  • Experience with SAP and ProjectWise
  • Exposure to basic PLC or logic programming
