Moving beyond SF6

Zero-harm energy transmission is already becoming a reality globally in different climate zones.

As the world fights climate change, the spotlight is increasingly turning to industrial practices and materials that significantly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. This includes sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), which is widely used in electrical switchgear for its excellent insulating properties. However, SF6 is also a potent greenhouse gas with a warming potential thousands of times greater than CO2. Luckily, today, environmentally friendly F-gas-free alternatives are available. Manufacturers, transmission and distribution system operators, and regulators have taken note. The F-gas era appears to be ending.
