Scotland: Linxon has officially opened its first office in Scotland, marking a long-term commitment to transforming the country’s electricity transmission network. The new Glasgow base, on Bothwell Street, will serve as a key hub for projects with SSEN Transmission and SP Energy Networks.
Over the next five years, the two transmission operators are investing around $46 B (£34 B) to modernise Scotland’s grid, connect new renewable generation, and strengthen energy security across the UK. Linxon’s new office will initially support 25 roles in engineering and project operations, with further recruitment expected as transmission projects expand.
All positions are newly created, with a strong focus on local recruitment. Linxon will only draw on wider UK and international expertise where specialist skills are needed, while supporting the Scottish supply chain and developing local capability.
Yousef Chamaneh, Linxon UK Country Manager, said: “Opening our first Scottish office demonstrates our long-term commitment to Scotland’s energy future. In partnership with SSEN Transmission and SP Energy Networks, we aim to deliver resilient infrastructure while creating lasting social and economic value for local communities.”
SP Energy Networks’ Guy Jefferson added: “This office and the new jobs highlight the benefits of our £5.4bn strategic partnership. Investment in the grid will improve resilience, support more connections, and bring lasting benefits for an all-electric future.”
Sandy Mactaggart, Director of Offshore Delivery at SSEN Transmission, said: “Linxon’s decision to establish a permanent presence in Glasgow strengthens local engineering capability, helping ensure vital transmission projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and at pace.”
The Glasgow office will also act as a collaboration hub with clients, partners, and the wider supply chain, supporting Scotland’s transition to clean energy while delivering economic benefits across the country.
