Japan: ABB has formed a strategic partnership with Japan’s Kabushiki Kaisha Kyoritsu Denki Seisakusyo to enhance the supply and support of ABB’s SafeRing/SafePlus Ring Main Units (RMUs), modular medium-voltage switchgear used in secondary distribution. The collaboration aims to meet growing demand from manufacturing, renewable energy, data centres, and commercial infrastructure.
Ring Main Units are compact, looped-network switchgear critical for reliable power distribution, system protection, and isolation. With Japan seeing increased large-scale facility development, the partnership promises RMUs with short lead times, high safety standards, and strong after-sales support, helping businesses maintain stable and efficient power systems.
Under the agreement, ABB will manufacture and assemble core RMU components, while Kyoritsu Denki Seisakusyo will handle engineering, final assembly, pre-shipment testing, sales, and service. This division of responsibilities enables faster market access and localised support for Japanese customers.

ABB’s SafeRing/SafePlus RMUs are modular, gas-insulated units rated 12–24 kV, built to IEC standards and ISO9001-certified. Their flexible design, low maintenance, and compact footprint make them suitable for demanding environments while optimising installation space and lifecycle costs.
