United States, West Virginia, Hurricane: Appalachian Power is planning a major electricity reliability project in Putnam County. The Estes Farm Substation project will include a new substation and almost 3.5 km (two miles) of transmission line along Teays Valley Road, also known as State Route 34.
Construction is expected to begin in 2028, with the full project scheduled for completion in 2032. Appalachian Power spokesperson George Porter said the development would strengthen the local transmission system by connecting to the Bancroft–Milton line at the best location to support long-term reliability and growing community demand.
