USA, Minnesotta / South Dakota: Avangrid has extended its long-term power purchase agreement with Xcel Energy for electricity generated by the 150 MW MinnDakota wind farm. The facility is located on the border between Minnesota and South Dakota.
Through the renewed agreement, MinnDakota will continue delivering wind-generated electricity to the US utility, allowing it to maintain the supply of renewable energy to customers across the region.
The wind farm has played an important role in supporting local communities by providing electricity to thousands of homes and businesses. In addition to clean energy production, the project contributes to regional development through job creation and tax revenues that support public services.
Avangrid, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in the United States, operates a strong renewable energy portfolio in the region. The company currently has ten generation facilities across Minnesota and South Dakota with a combined installed capacity of around 900 MW.
The extension of the agreement ensures that electricity from the MinnDakota wind farm will continue to contribute to the region’s renewable energy supply.
