India, Maharashtra, Pune: Bajel Projects Ltd has won a major contract for a 765kV air-insulated substation (AIS) package in Maharashtra.
The order forms part of the “Network Expansion Scheme” designed to reduce transmission bottlenecks in the Pune Region-I area. It includes the construction of a new 765/400 kV AIS substation at Pune East, along with the augmentation of the existing 400 kV Karjat and Lonikand-II substations in Maharashtra.
The project is intended to support growing electricity demand and improve grid reliability in one of India’s key industrial regions.
Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects Ltd, said the contract represents an important milestone for the company as it expands its presence in the 765 kV segment. He highlighted the strategic importance of the Pune East substation, noting its role in easing transmission constraints and strengthening Maharashtra’s power grid.
He added that the upgrades at Karjat and Lonikand-II will further support the stability and capacity of the regional transmission network.
The company said the order further enhances its portfolio in 765 kV substation projects and reflects its experience in delivering high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
