India, Maharashtra, Nashik: CG Power and Industrial Solutions has started commercial production at its new EHV switchgear facility, S3 Unit-II, located in Nashik, Maharashtra. The commissioning marks a key step in the company’s planned expansion of its switchgear manufacturing capabilities.
The new plant works alongside the existing S3 Unit-I facility in Ambad, Nashik, which produces EHV circuit breakers in the 33 kV to 800 kV range. Together, the two units are expected to strengthen production capacity across high-voltage equipment lines.
The S3 Unit-II project, which was first announced in October 2025 as part of a $78.20 M (₹748.20 crore) greenfield expansion programme, is aimed at increasing capacity in both MV and EHV switchgear segments.
Spread over 14 ha (35 acres) with a built-up area of approximately 72,000 m2, the new facility adds annual capacity of 7,200 EHV circuit breakers in the 33 kV to 245 kV range. It also includes high-voltage testing laboratories rated at 500 kV and 350 kV. The existing Unit-I plant has a capacity of 9,000 units and is currently operating at about 85 % utilisation.
CG Power has invested $4.13 M (₹39.49 crore) in the new unit through internal accruals, with most of the broader capital expenditure allocated to the overall expansion programme. The company said the additional capacity is intended to support rising demand from transmission, renewable energy, railways, utilities and export markets.
The expansion reflects growing requirements for high-voltage equipment driven by grid development and infrastructure growth. The company also reported strong financial performance, with higher revenue and net profit growth in the latest quarter, alongside a rise in its share price on the BSE.
