USA, Pennsylvania, Clinton Township: Plans for a major data centre and power development in Clinton Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, outline the construction of 20 data-centre buildings, each 11,000 m2 (118,000 sq ft), on a site covering just over 320 ha (800 acres).

The project also includes two on-site power generation facilities, two customer substations, a water-treatment plant, parking, utilities, landscaping, and stormwater management to support the campus operations. The plans were reviewed by the River Reporter following a Pennsylvania Right To Know request. Public presentation of the plans is expected at a Clinton Township Planning Commission meeting on 3 June at 7 p.m.

The parcel, currently owned by NEPA developer Linde Corporation, has been discussed with Forest City Energy Center LLC regarding the development of the data centres. The buildings are arranged in clusters on the western portion of the site, with adjoining substations. The two natural gas power facilities are proposed for the eastern end.

Preliminary environmental reviews note the presence of northern long-eared and Indiana bats in the area, while state agencies reported no anticipated impact on threatened species. A Phase 1 archaeological survey identified no immediate concerns, despite the area’s high probability for National Register-eligible sites.
