Philippines, Davao del Norte, Panabo: Davao Light and Power Co. has inaugurated its 29th distribution substation, expanding capacity for Panabo City and the surrounding area.
The new San Pedro Substation has a capacity of 10 MVA at 69/13.8 kV and was energised on 2 August before being loaded on 8 August.
The facility is designed to support the 63-ha Anflo Industrial Estate, a PEZA-accredited agro-industrial park, while also strengthening supply for nearby communities. It is the fourth Davao Light substation in Panabo.
The inauguration marks completion of Phase 1 of the project. Phase 2 is planned to add a further 33 MVA of capacity and is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
Once completed, the second phase is expected to operate as a fully digital substation, with automated monitoring and real-time data transmission to support faster fault identification and operational response.
The expanded facility will also include a solar power system for lighting and other site needs, together with a rainwater harvesting system for cleaning and maintenance.
Davao Light said the project forms part of its wider programme to upgrade and expand the distribution network as demand grows across its service area.
