Romania: Distribution company Delgaz Grid has started the execution of the works contract for the modernization of the Combinat, Verești, Rădăuți, Bârnar, Conexiuni transformer stations in Suceava county, and Izvoare and Piatra Neamț Centru in Neamț county. The partner in the project is the association of Eximprod Engineering (leader), Loial Impex and ETHGROUP.

After the completion of the works, over 85000 consumers supplied from these stations will benefit from better services by increasing the degree of continuity in the supply of electricity, the quality of the distribution service and increased security of supply. The substations will also increase the connection capacity for new consumers, prosumers and green energy producers.

The main work consists of replacing the equipment for the distribution of electricity at 110 kV (transformers, circuit breakers, separators, instrument transformers, control and protection systems) and 20 kV (cells, control rooms and modular connections). The systems that ensure the station’s own consumption, both in alternating current and direct current, will also be replaced. The equipment and technologies used are of the latest generation, and the substations will be supervised and controlled remotely, to be integrated into the SCADA system.

Of the total value of the works, of over 253.5 million lei (€50 million), 165.7 million lei represents non-reimbursable co-financing from the Modernization Fund, and 87.8 million lei is the contribution of Delgaz Grid. Other projects with European co-financing for the modernization of another 27 substations in the six counties of Moldova are ongoing, currently in various stages of implementation.
