Egypt, Red Sea Governorate: Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy have signed a power purchase agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for the 1 GW Ras Shokeir Wind Project.
The project will be developed across approximately 143 km² in Ras Shokeir, within the Gulf of Suez region.
Under the agreement, EETC will purchase electricity generated by the wind farm, providing the commercial framework for the project to move forward.
Once completed, Ras Shokeir is expected to add 1 GW of renewable generation capacity to Egypt’s national grid. The developers estimate that the project could generate enough electricity to supply more than 1.2 million homes.
Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy are jointly developing the project, with EETC acting as the transmission company and electricity purchaser.
The developers also estimate that the wind farm could avoid more than 1.36 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
The PPA represents a key development milestone for the project and forms part of Egypt’s wider effort to increase renewable generation and diversify its electricity supply.
