India: ENGIE has been awarded a significant hybrid energy project in India, marking the company’s first Solar PV and Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the country. The project, secured through a competitive bidding process by SECI, involves 200 MW of solar power paired with a 100 MW / 600 MWh battery storage system.

With nearly 2 GW of renewable capacity either in operation or under construction in India, this project strengthens ENGIE’s commitment to supporting the nation’s energy transition. The new hybrid system will help provide reliable, round-the-clock renewable energy, playing a key role in India’s ambition to boost grid resilience and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

“This project marks an important milestone for ENGIE in India,” said Amit Jain, CEO and Country Manager, ENGIE India. “By integrating long-duration energy storage with large-scale solar, we’re helping India move towards 24/7 renewable power and enhancing grid stability.”

This award follows ENGIE’s previous Battery Energy Storage System project, a 280 MW / 560 MWh system secured in November 2025. The new project will soon enter the engineering, procurement, and regulatory approval phase, after which construction will begin. ENGIE will work closely with its technology partners, suppliers, and relevant authorities to ensure the project’s successful and timely execution.

This hybrid project further solidifies ENGIE’s long-term role in India’s clean energy sector, contributing to a more secure, resilient, and low-carbon power system aligned with the country’s renewable energy goals.
