Enshore Subsea has announced the construction of the Enshore Advantage, a specialised barge designed to meet the logistical challenges of shallow-water cable laying. Scheduled for delivery in summer 2026, the vessel is engineered specifically for bundled HVDC cables, including four-cable bundles with metallic returns. Its primary commercial mission is to support TenneT Germany in connecting North Sea wind farms to the onshore grid. Each connection handled by the vessel is designed to transmit up to 2 GW of renewable energy. This investment represents a strategic move to capture market share in the “last mile” of offshore infrastructure, where traditional deep-water vessels cannot operate, thereby reducing the need for expensive and risky cable joints in the near-shore zone.
