India: Hindustan Power has been awarded a contract to develop a 100 MW solar power plant integrated with a 200 MWh energy storage system. This milestone project supports India’s ambitious renewable energy targets while addressing the challenges of intermittent solar generation.

The company is taking a major step in delivering clean, reliable, and continuous energy. The combined solar and battery storage facility will allow the company to store surplus energy generated during peak sunlight hours and dispatch it during periods of high demand or low solar output.

The energy storage component plays a critical role in improving grid stability, enabling frequency regulation, and reducing the need for fossil fuel-based backup power plants. This approach enhances the overall efficiency of renewable integration and ensures more consistent power supply, even during cloudy weather or nighttime hours.

The project aligns with India’s national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Solar-plus-storage systems are key to this transition, as they allow for greater flexibility and reliability across the power network.

By combining large-scale renewable generation with advanced storage, Hindustan Power is contributing not only to cleaner energy production but also to the modernisation of India’s electricity infrastructure.
