Australia, Queensland: Hitachi Energy has completed the delivery of power converters and related support systems for the Ulinda Park battery energy storage system (BESS) in Queensland, Australia, and will continue supporting the project through a 20-year long-term service agreement.
Developed and operated by Akaysha Energy, the 155MW / 298 MWh Ulinda Park BESS is designed to support grid stability, renewable energy integration, and participation in Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM), including Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS).
Located in Queensland’s Western Downs region, the project operates in a challenging electricity environment where maintaining reliability, fast response, and compliance is increasingly important as renewable energy use expands.
As part of the project, Hitachi Energy delivered power conversion systems, control technology, factory testing, commissioning, and regulatory integration support required for entry into the NEM.
The long-term service agreement is part of Hitachi Energy’s HMAX™ Energy platform, which combines AI-supported services, IoT-enabled connectivity, and digital monitoring to improve operational efficiency, asset management, and the long-term reliability of power infrastructure.
The agreement is intended to support continuous monitoring, predictive maintenance, operational planning, and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
