India, Telangana, Hyderabad: Hyosung Heavy Industries has entered the data centre power infrastructure market by agreeing to supply 400 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) for India’s largest digital infrastructure project.
According to industry sources, Hyosung T&D India, the company’s Indian subsidiary, will supply the equipment for the Hyderabad CtrlS Chandanvelly Hyperscale Data Center Park Project, located near the Chandanvelly industrial complex. The data centre park is expected to require around 600 MW of power.
The contract value was not disclosed.
Hyosung T&D India already holds a strong position in India’s ultra-high-voltage circuit breaker market, with more than 50 % share in the segment and around 90 % share in the 800 kV and above market. Analysts say this local position helped support the latest order.
The project comes as South Korean power equipment manufacturers compete more actively for data centre-related contracts. HD Hyundai Electric and LS Electric have also secured recent orders linked to data centre power infrastructure, including projects in North America.
Rising demand for artificial intelligence and hyperscale facilities is increasing the need for dense and reliable electrical systems. In response, manufacturers are expanding switchgear production and investing in technologies for both AC and DC transmission and distribution.
Hyosung Heavy Industries is also developing DC transmission technology, while other Korean manufacturers are working with international partners on HVDC and DC distribution solutions.
