USA: LS Electric announced on 18 May that it had signed a contract worth approximately $70 M (105 B won), to supply high-end power distribution equipment. Vacuum circuit breakers will be among the key products supplied under a new power equipment contract for large-scale data centres in the United States.

The company said the order reflects growing demand for reliable power infrastructure as artificial intelligence and cloud services increase electricity requirements in data centres.

The equipment will support the core power network of data centres operated by a major US big tech company. Vacuum circuit breakers are critical protection devices in power distribution systems, interrupting the circuit in the event of faults such as short circuits or overcurrent. In hyperscale data centres, they help prevent external power disturbances from reaching the facility and protect servers, data assets and other equipment.

According to LS Electric, standard power devices are often not suitable for the constant high-load conditions found in hyperscale data centres. High-end equipment, designed with premium materials and precise engineering, is needed to support long service life, stable operation and uninterrupted power supply.

LS Electric plans to use the current growth in North American data centre and power infrastructure investment to pursue further contracts and expand its local market presence.
