In a strategic move aligned with the EU’s F-gas ban that commenced in January 2026, Lucy Group has acquired Nuventura GmbH. This acquisition is a significant expansion for Lucy Electric, moving the firm beyond secondary distribution into the primary switchgear sector.
Nuventura is renowned for developing the “world’s first” 36 kV dry-air Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). The patented technology utilizes a circuit breaker and three-position disconnector design that operates efficiently under zero overpressure conditions. This deal allows Lucy Group to capitalise on the immediate demand for sustainable alternatives in Continental Europe, where regulations for switchgear up to 24 kV are already in effect, with extensions to 52 kV expected by 2030.
