USA, Nevada, Las Vegas: MGM Resorts International has reached a key milestone in its clean energy strategy by supplying up to 100 % of its daytime electricity needs on the Las Vegas Strip using solar power.
This achievement follows the commissioning of the Escape Solar and Storage Project in Lincoln County, Nevada, in December 2025. The project delivers 115 MW of solar generation alongside 400 MWh of battery storage. When combined with MGM Resorts’ existing 100 MW Mega Solar Array, the company has more than doubled its access to renewable electricity. The battery system allows excess solar power to be stored and used during the evening or when solar output is lower.
MGM Resorts entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement with Escape Solar LLC in September 2024. The agreement extends the company’s renewable energy supply to fully meet daytime electricity demand across its Las Vegas properties.
According to the company, the latest project supports its wider goal of using 100 % renewable electricity for its domestic operations by 2030. MGM Resorts says the move also helps improve long-term cost stability while reducing exposure to energy price fluctuations.
Alongside the Escape project, MGM Resorts has invested in several large-scale and on-site solar installations. These include a 323,000-panel Mega Solar Array providing 100 MW to Las Vegas locations, a rooftop system with 26,000 panels at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center delivering 8.3 MW, and a 100 kW rooftop solar array at T-Mobile Arena. The company has also installed 3,456 solar panels on the parking garage at MGM Springfield in Massachusetts.
Together, these projects are aimed at cutting carbon emissions, lowering energy costs, and strengthening the resilience of MGM Resorts’ energy supply.
