Finland: Norelco, a Finnish manufacturer of power distribution systems, has started production of Schneider Electric’s Okken low-voltage switchboards at its new factory in Savonlinna. The licence agreement, signed earlier this year, makes Norelco the only licensed contract manufacturer of Okken and Okken Lean switchboards in Finland.
Okken switchboards are widely used in critical infrastructure, data centres, and industrial facilities. By producing them locally with domestic materials, Norelco shortens delivery times, reduces transport-related emissions, and strengthens Finland’s supply security. The company also takes full responsibility for mechanical production, testing, and quality control, becoming the first in Europe to handle this level of Okken manufacturing.
“The need for critical infrastructure and data centres is constantly growing, and both require highly specific equipment. Okken is an excellent fit for this purpose, and manufacturing in Finland supports supply security,” said Jani Vahvanen, CEO of Schneider Electric Finland.
Norelco’s new factory in Savonlinna opened in April 2025 and combines advanced technology with Finnish expertise. According to CEO Ari Hämäläinen, the local supply chain also improves maintenance and spare parts services.
With over 60 years of experience, Norelco sees the Okken licence as a key step in its growth strategy, expanding its role in the Nordic market and reinforcing its position as a trusted supplier of low-voltage switchboards.
