Thailand, Chonburi: NTT Global Data Centers (NTT GDC) and Fuji Electric have broken ground on a new data centre substation project to support NTT GDC’s Chonburi campus.
The project marks the first collaboration between the two companies in Thailand. According to company posts on LinkedIn, it is also Fuji Electric’s first data centre substation project in the country.
The substation will include a 115 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) solution, together with 115 kV power transformers, medium-voltage cast resin and oil-immersed transformers, and MV/LV switchboards.
The project will use locally manufactured components, supporting the development of Thailand’s data centre power infrastructure and strengthening local supply capability for critical electrical systems.
NTT GDC has been expanding its presence in Thailand’s Chonburi industrial area. Earlier this year, the company purchased land for its new Bangkok 5 (BKK5) data centre, joining its existing BKK2 and BKK3 sites, as well as land secured for BKK4.
Together, these sites will form the wider NTT GDC Chonburi campus. The company has also signed a 100 MW power purchase agreement with Amata B.Grimm Power for its BKK4 development.
NTT GDC already operates several data centre facilities in Thailand and is continuing to expand its Chonburi campus to support growing demand for digital infrastructure.
