USA, New York, Ithaca: NYSEG has started upgrade work at the West Hill Substation in Ithaca as part of ongoing utility infrastructure improvements in the area.
The project includes replacing two breakers and installing two capacitor banks, which the company says will improve service reliability for more than 2,700 customers.
According to NYSEG, the West Hill work is an important step in strengthening Ithaca’s electrical system and supporting dependable power supply for homes, businesses and other local facilities.
The substation, located on Elm Street, is expected to remain under construction until sometime in 2027.
NYSEG said the project forms part of a wider investment programme worth nearly $46 M, aimed at upgrading multiple substations across Ithaca.
Earlier this year, the company also began substation work in Cayuga Heights and Downtown Ithaca, as it continues efforts to improve local grid reliability.
