Taiwan, Changhua County: Ørsted has outlined plans for a new offshore wind project of up to 2 GW in the Taiwan Strait.
The proposed Dadu 2 development would cover approximately 234.6 km², with its closest point around 38 km off the coast of Changhua County.
Ørsted is considering turbines rated between 14 MW and 22 MW, with initial plans indicating between 91 and 143 units. Jacket foundations are among the options being assessed.
Export cables are expected to make landfall north of the offshore wind cable corridor managed by Taiwan Power Company. Electricity generated by the project would then pass through an onshore substation before connecting to existing or future grid infrastructure.
Dadu 2 has entered the environmental assessment and public consultation process.
The project forms part of Taiwan’s broader effort to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix.
Ørsted is also developing Dadu 1 in the same region. According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment database, that project could have an installed capacity of up to 924 MW, with its environmental impact statement recently completed.
