Poland: PGE Baltica has signed a contract with a consortium to prepare the design of the onshore grid connection infrastructure for the Baltica 9+ offshore wind project.

The consortium includes PROJMORS ASE Group, ABL Group Polska and Energoprojekt-Katowice, with PROJMORS ASE Group acting as lead partner.

Electricity from Baltica 9+ will be delivered onshore to a connection point at the Krzemienica substation in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Słupsk district, Redzikowo commune.

The contract covers the full technical concept for the connection infrastructure, including technology selection, key parameters, design, logistics and implementation assumptions. It will also include the project schedule and budget.

The consortium will carry out detailed ground investigations, including geological surveys, field and laboratory geotechnical testing, and related geological and engineering documentation. The final stage will involve preparing construction designs and obtaining building permits for the power export infrastructure.

Mateusz Samulak, President of the Management Board of PROJMORS ASE Group, said: “Taking part in the tender organised by PGE Baltica was a major challenge for us. We are pleased that it ended in success and that we will be able to prepare the power export design for the Baltica 9+ project.”

PGE Baltica said the contract supports its strategy to strengthen domestic supply-chain capacity in Polish offshore wind projects.

Baltica 9+ combines the Baltica 9 project with the area of the acquired FEW Baltic II project. Once merged, the offshore wind farm will have a total capacity of around 1.3 GW. The project is located in the western part of the Słupsk Bank, around 48 km from shore, and completion is planned by 2032.
