India, Gujarat: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder for an interstate transmission project supporting renewable-energy integration in Gujarat.
The project covers transmission infrastructure for 5,500 MW from the Jam Khambhaliya Renewable Energy Zone Phase II and 1,000 MW from Jamnagar Phase I. POWERGRID will develop the scheme on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer basis at a discovered tariff of $85.98 M (Rs. 822.91 crore) per year.
The scope includes construction of a new GIS substation at Kalyanpur, along with interconnecting transformer augmentation and bay-extension works at substations currently under construction in Gujarat.
The project also includes new 765 kV transmission lines across the state, strengthening the network required to evacuate and transmit electricity from large-scale renewable-energy developments.
