USA: Schneider Electric and Digital Realty have agreed to a $373 M Supply Capacity Agreement (SCA) aimed at accelerating access to key power technologies for data centres in the United States. The agreement was announced at Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit North America in Las Vegas.
The deal covers supply capacity for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, low-voltage switchgear and prefabricated power skids. Schneider Electric will allocate guaranteed production capacity, including a dedicated low-voltage switchgear line. The arrangement is designed to reduce supply bottlenecks, lower cost pressures through economies of scale and shorten delivery timelines.
Digital Realty, a major provider of data-centre, colocation and interconnection services, is expanding to meet growing electricity and infrastructure requirements driven by artificial intelligence workloads and cloud growth. The company stated that locking in capacity helps ensure it can scale while maintaining flexibility in working with multiple vendors.
Jeff Tapley, Chief Operating Officer of Digital Realty, said the agreement gives the company confidence to expand capacity while maintaining resilience and choice in its supply chain. Schneider Electric noted that the US data-centre sector faces a sharp rise in energy needs and stressed that faster deployment of electrical equipment will be essential to support new demand.
The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the two companies but marks a shift toward a more integrated supply model. Schneider Electric’s involvement now extends beyond individual equipment orders to include prefabrication strategies and expanded switchgear production. Both companies emphasised that this approach aims to create a supply chain capable of responding to rapid growth in digital infrastructure.
