Hungary, Dunavecse: Schneider Electric has inaugurated its Duna Smart Power Systems (DSPS) facility in Dunavecse, southern Hungary, marking a significant expansion of its European manufacturing footprint. The new plant is the company’s largest in Europe and its first to be designed from the ground up for net-zero carbon emissions, serving as both a production hub and a model for sustainable operations.
The factory leverages advanced building management and energy optimisation systems to maximise efficiency, while nearly 5,000 m2 of rooftop solar panels supply a substantial portion of its electricity. Dejan Markovic, Power Systems VP for Central Europe, emphasised that as electricity demand grows, digitalisation is essential for flexible, resilient, and efficient power networks that integrate renewables and meet evolving consumer needs.
A key product manufactured at Dunavecse is the RM AirSeT switchgear system, notable for eliminating SF6 gas, aligning with sustainability goals and tightening European regulations.
The facility also integrates data-driven operations, connecting energy management, manufacturing, and facility systems on a single platform. E-mobility solutions feature ultra-fast charging capable of delivering high-capacity EV charging within minutes.
Tamás Lukács, CEE Prosumer Offer and Strategy Manager, noted that advanced charging systems are essential for large-scale electric mobility adoption.
Schneider Electric’s Dunavecse site highlights how electrification, digitalisation, and sustainability are reshaping manufacturing and energy use in Europe, pointing toward smarter, greener industrial operations.
