USA: Siemens Energy is investing $1 B to expand its US manufacturing footprint and create over 1,500 highly skilled jobs, supporting the country’s growing demand for electricity and next-generation energy infrastructure.

The company plans targeted expansions and a new switchgear factory in Mississippi, alongside upgrades to facilities in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New York, and Texas. These investments will strengthen production of transformers, gas turbines, and critical grid components while promoting workforce development through apprenticeships and training programmes.

“Siemens Energy has been making things in the United States for more than a century,” said CEO Christian Bruch. “We are experiencing a once-in-a-generation opportunity as US manufacturing and artificial intelligence demand surge. Our investments will help deliver more power to more people across the country.”

In Mississippi, a new high-voltage switchgear facility will create up to 300 jobs and feature a state-of-the-art training centre. North Carolina expansions will enhance transformer and turbine manufacturing, with 500 new roles and partnerships with local universities. Florida upgrades include gas turbine component production, AI digital grid labs, and the relocation of the company headquarters to Orlando’s Lake Nona. Alabama, New York, and Texas sites will also see improvements in generator components and compression equipment production.

With a history in the US dating back to the 1880s and a workforce of more than 12,000 across 25 facilities, Siemens Energy supports about 25 % of the country’s power generation. The company works with nearly 5,000 US suppliers, placing $1.52 B in annual orders and contributing around $600 M in taxes, underlining a long-term commitment to the US energy market.
