Asutralia, Melbourne: Electrical and digital infrastructure specialist SKS Technologies Group has secured a major contract valued at $28 M to execute early works at the MEL2 hyperscale data centre in Melbourne, Australia.
The contract was awarded by Built, extending a successful relationship established during work on the neighboring MEL1 facility. The new contract increases the group’s total order book to $312 M.
The scope of work includes key elements of the site’s high-voltage power intake infrastructure. SKS Technologies will carry out civil and structural substation works, including the supply, layout and installation of underground conduits and concrete cable pits for utility high-voltage services.
The company will also complete the internal technical fit-out of the substation and switchgear buildings, supporting the electrical interfaces connected to the site’s gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and sub-distribution systems.
The MEL2 project forms part of a wider $5 B data centre campus, which is planned to deliver more than 354 MW of computing capacity. The development reflects the growing demand for electrical infrastructure to support large-scale digital workloads, including artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
For SKS Technologies, the contract strengthens its position in the data centre infrastructure market and highlights the increasing role of high-voltage substations, GIS and power distribution systems in supporting hyperscale facilities.
