Slovenia: State-owned power utility Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) has confirmed plans to construct a 140 MW floating solar power plant on Druzmir Lake in the north of the country.
The facility will generate about 140 GWh of electricity per year, enough to supply roughly 35,000 households, according to project manager Simon Cizmek. The National Spatial Plan for the project and related spatial arrangements will be published shortly.
With an estimated investment of $117 M ( €100 M), the project will be financed through HSE’s own resources, loans, and EU support. Construction is scheduled to begin by the third quarter of 2026, with operations expected to start in early 2027.
HSE first announced its consideration of the Druzmir Lake project in June 2024. Once complete, it will represent one of Slovenia’s largest renewable energy investments, contributing to the country’s clean energy targets and diversification of supply.
