India, Uttar Pradesh: Tata Power has commissioned the second element of the Jalpura-Khurja transmission project, adding a 400 / 220 kV gas-insulated switchgear substation and a new high-voltage transmission link in Uttar Pradesh.

The newly commissioned Jalpura GIS substation has 1,000 MVA of transformation capacity and will transfer power from the 400 kV grid to the 220 kV network.

The project also includes a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Khurja and Jalpura spanning 162 circuit kilometres, comprising two circuits of approximately 81 km each.

Tata Power said the infrastructure is intended to strengthen transmission capacity serving growing demand centres across the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. Khurja is an important power node for transmission towards the National Capital Region and Noida.

The Jalpura substation is expected to support load management and improve the reliability and resilience of the regional transmission network as electricity demand grows.

The project was executed by TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power.

Tata Power said its transmission portfolio now totals 7,900 circuit kilometres of lines operational and under execution across India.
