Denmark, Lemvig: A substation being built for RWE’s 1 GW Thor offshore wind farm has been vandalized. Police on the scene investigated the incident. The onshore substation near the Lemvig, Denmark was designed by Siemens Energy for the project. Danish regional broadcaster TV Midtvest published video of police attending the scene after a report of vandalism on Wednesday.

Investigation is still at an initial stage and specialists are looking into the incident. The DNA of employees who have been in contact with the substation has been taken to exclude them from any possible findings. The nature and extent of the vandalism at the substation, designated as critical infrastructure, is unclear.

In their statements to Recharge, both Siemens Energy and RWE both confirmed that an incident took place at the site, adding that an investigation has started and that they would not be “speculating” on the matter.

Ground was broken on the substation in 2023. Siemens Energy is in charge of the engineering and construction work together with local company MT Højgaard Danmark.
