Russia: Ukrainian drones have reportedly destroyed five substations in the Russian Federation, with a combined capacity of 5,066 MVA. The operation was carried out in coordination with Ukrainian special services, according to military sources.
The strikes are said to have been executed by the First Separate Centre for Unmanned Systems, formerly the 14th Special Purpose Regiment, as part of ongoing deep operations targeting critical Russian energy infrastructure.
Following the attack, reports indicated power disruptions and growing fuel shortages in several regions of Russia. Social media channels linked to Ukrainian defence sources shared messages referring to potential “blackouts” during the winter months, underscoring the strategic intent to strain Russia’s energy resilience.
Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted additional drone strikes overnight on a tanker and an oil terminal in the port city of Tuapse, further extending their campaign against refineries and energy logistics hubs.
According to military statements, other long-range strike units also participated in targeting oil refineries and strategic facilities, with damage assessments to follow from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
These attacks come amid reports of fuel shortages and increased consumption of oil and gas within Russia, as Ukraine intensifies its focus on energy-related assets seen as vital to Moscow’s wartime logistics.
