Egypt: XD-EGEMAC has successfully completed expansion works at the Beni Suef 3 transformer station (Benban 3), a vital component of Upper Egypt’s power infrastructure. The company announced the energisation of the 500 kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) on 5 July 2025, signalling a major achievement in the development of the national grid.
Implemented in partnership with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the project was carried out under the guidance of Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat. It forms part of a broader national plan to enhance grid efficiency and increase capacity to handle renewable energy from the Benban Solar Park, one of the world’s largest solar complexes.
The expansion strengthens Egypt’s ability to integrate clean energy into the grid and supports the country’s goals for sustainable development. XD-EGEMAC reiterated its commitment to delivering projects to the highest quality and technical standards, playing an active role in the transformation of Egypt’s energy landscape.
