As Argentina’s energy transition accelerates, Schneider Electric is introducing technologies that make the country’s power infrastructure cleaner, smarter, and more resilient. In this exclusive interview, Sergio Ferrari, Director de Power Systems for Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, explains how the company’s innovative AirSeT technology is helping to reshape the grid.
Replacing SF₆ for a greener grid
Ferrari describes SM AirSeT as a breakthrough in medium-voltage switchgear, replacing SF₆ – one of the most potent greenhouse gases – with pure air. “This is key to decarbonising the grid without compromising efficiency or safety,” he says, noting its importance in countries like Argentina where much of the electricity already comes from renewables.
Reducing carbon footprint
By eliminating SF₆ entirely, AirSeT avoids emissions linked to its production, use, and disposal. “It is fully aligned with Argentina’s climate commitments and supports sectors such as industry, mining, and urban infrastructure,” Ferrari notes.
Supporting sustainable expansion
The technology matches the performance of traditional switchgear but in a compact, safer, and easy-to-install format, suitable for dense urban and industrial settings. With no toxic or pressurised gases, operator safety improves, and environmental risks are reduced.
Integrating with digital solutions
AirSeT is designed to integrate with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform, enabling real-time monitoring, predictive diagnostics, and optimised maintenance, which is a major asset for modernising Argentina’s distribution networks.
Partnerships for the future
At Argentina Energy Week, Schneider Electric will seek public-private partnerships to advance electrification, grid modernisation, and industrial sustainability, while expanding its network of integrators, distributors, and technology partners.
