Singapore: The Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association (ANGEA) has announced the appointment of Ryosuke Tsugaru as its new Chair, marking a new chapter in the organisation’s leadership.
Tsugaru, a highly respected figure in the global LNG sector, currently serves as Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Low Carbon Fuel Officer at JERA. He officially began his two-year term on 2 September, taking over from Bill Bullock of ConocoPhillips, who recently retired.
ANGEA CEO Paul Everingham welcomed the new Chair and praised Bullock’s contributions during his tenure. “Tsugaru-san brings vast experience and great expertise from more than three decades in the global energy sector,” said Everingham. “His leadership will help guide ANGEA’s policy and advocacy efforts during a crucial time for Asia’s energy transition.”
Tsugaru, who joined the ANGEA Board in April 2024, said he was honoured to lead the organisation. “ANGEA has a vital role in Asia’s energy future,” he said. “I look forward to working with partners across the region to highlight the importance of natural gas in supporting energy security and enabling a practical, lower-carbon transition.”
Margaret Rogacki, Director of Australia LNG at ExxonMobil, will remain as Deputy Board Chair.
Meanwhile, Andy O’Brien, Executive Vice President at ConocoPhillips, will replace Bullock as the company’s representative on the ANGEA Board.
The leadership transition comes as ANGEA continues to advocate for secure, sustainable, and affordable energy solutions across Asia.
