Thailand, Bangkok: Schneider Electric presented a wide range of decarbonisation and digital grid solutions at IEEE PES GTD Asia 2025, with a strong focus on SF6-free medium-voltage switchgear and advanced software to support the energy transition. The company showcased SM AirSeT and RM AirSeT switchgear, which eliminate sulphur hexafluoride, offering a cleaner alternative for utilities and industry. One kilogramme of SF₆ carries the warming impact of 25,000 kilogrammes of CO₂, making gas-free designs a key step toward greener networks.

The newly launched MCSeT with EvoPacT was also highlighted as a major development in primary switchgear, featuring digital vacuum circuit breakers and plug-and-play architecture for easier maintenance. Integrated thermal sensors monitor critical connection points, helping reduce failure risks and enabling remote oversight to shorten outage durations. These technologies arrive ahead of new EU regulations banning SF6 in 24 kV systems from January 2026.

AI-powered digital tools were another major focus, including the EcoStruxure Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), designed to help operators manage distributed renewable energy, improve grid flexibility and enhance operational efficiency.

In the Sustainable Communities & Industries zone, Schneider Electric presented intelligent building platforms that reduce energy consumption in commercial and residential settings. The EcoStruxure Building Activate system enables remote configuration, real-time monitoring and seamless automation of temperature, lighting and air conditioning, while helping homes and “prosumers” optimise solar generation and EV charging.

Yada Rungrueang Wisetrat, Cluster Business Vice President for Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, said the company aims to combine electrification, automation and digitalisation to create efficient, low-carbon energy systems across all sectors.
