South Africa: Schneider Electric has introduced its MasterPacT MTZ Active range of circuit breakers to the South African market, aiming to raise new standards in safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
The units are designed to support 24/7 uptime, manage rising energy costs, and help facility managers improve performance. With embedded features that allow real-time monitoring and power measurement, the breakers also contribute to decarbonisation and longer asset life without compromising safety.
Innovations include a built-in Energy Reduction Maintenance Setting (ERMS), which enhances operator protection from arc flash hazards, and an infield selectivity check that ensures faster fault clearance to minimise damage and improve safety.
Digitisation is another key aspect. Wireless connectivity through Bluetooth, NFC, and Zigbee enables easy, cost-effective communication without the need for wired systems. Customers can interact with the breaker remotely, access real-time data for maintenance planning, and improve safety by reducing on-site checks.
A standout feature is the MicroLogic Active control unit, which provides real-time monitoring. In case of a fault, a QR code appears on the screen, giving instant guidance on corrective actions — a first in the industry.
Designed with circularity in mind, the MTZ Active range can be refurbished for a second life under original guarantee. Existing MasterPacT NT/NW breakers can also be upgraded with the new electronic control, avoiding full replacement and cutting waste.
