Schneider Electric has introduced its One Digital Grid Platform, a new artificial intelligence-enabled software solution designed to help power utilities modernise their grids, improve resilience and manage rising energy costs.
The platform was unveiled at two major events: Enlit Europe in Spain and Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit North America in Las Vegas. It brings together grid planning, operations and asset management in a single, modular system that works with existing infrastructure, avoiding the need for expensive overhauls.
Built for utilities, the One Digital Grid Platform aims to improve reliability, efficiency and customer communication. It delivers real-time insights and tools that support faster decision-making and more transparent communication during outages.
According to Schneider Electric, the platform responds to growing pressure on electricity networks, including rising demand, ageing assets and the need to integrate renewable energy. In Canada, grid instability already costs businesses billions each year, highlighting the need for faster modernisation and digital solutions.
The platform is based on Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure ADMS, DERMS and ArcFM technologies and uses AI and real-time data to support grid operations. New features include estimated times of restoration during outages caused by storms, wildfires or planned power shut-offs, helping utilities keep customers better informed.
Additional AI tools support real-time troubleshooting, optimise operator workflows and improve the accuracy of digital grid models by aligning them with real-world conditions. This reduces errors, lowers costs and strengthens overall grid performance.
The One Digital Grid Platform runs on Microsoft Azure, offering a hybrid cloud and on-premise setup with built-in cybersecurity and scalability. Schneider Electric says the solution builds on decades of experience, with utilities already reporting strong financial returns, faster outage response and significant time savings.
