USA, California: Shimmick Corporation has been selected as the preferred bidder for four infrastructure projects in California, with a combined value of approximately $156 M. Of this, around $47 M is allocated for electrical works critical to wastewater treatment and distribution systems.
A key award is a $24 M contract from the Orange County Sanitation District for electrical system upgrades at two Huntington Beach wastewater treatment facilities. The project scope includes switchgear replacement, SCADA integration, arc flash mitigation, protective relays, and load shedding systems, aiming to modernise and enhance plant reliability and safety.
The largest of the contracts, a $116 M wastewater infrastructure project in Modesto, involves building a 40 million gallon/day pump station and rerouting sewer flows via new gravity lines and diversion structures. Although primarily civil in scope, the pump station construction will incorporate critical electrical and mechanical systems.
Additionally, Shimmick secured two $8 M contracts from Reclamation District 1001 and Eastern Municipal Water District. The former entails constructing a dual-level steel-frame pump station along the Natomas Cross Canal North Levee, while the latter involves rehabilitating aeration basins at the Perris Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility — projects that will both require advanced electrical coordination and integration.
All contracts are expected to be formally awarded and commence in the third quarter of 2025. CEO Ural Yal emphasised Shimmick’s continued focus on delivering complex, integrated infrastructure solutions across civil, mechanical, and electrical domains.
