Italy, Rome: Terna SpA has awarded two framework agreements worth a combined $59.5 M (€52.5 M) for work on Italy’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
The contracts cover maintenance, emergency intervention and construction activities on overhead power lines operating at voltage levels of up to 220 kV. They also include work on fibre optic systems used to support the operation and monitoring of the national transmission network.
The award is divided into two lots. Lot 5, valued at $40.7 M (€35.7 million), was awarded to a temporary consortium led by ELETTROVIT S.r.l. It covers work linked to Terna’s central and southern transmission operations, including activities connected with the Sicily Transmission District.
Lot 8, valued at $19.2 M (€16.8 M), was awarded to CONSORZIO STABILE ITALWORK and focuses on the Sicily Transmission District.
Each framework agreement has an initial duration of 24 months, with the option to extend for a further 12 months. The notice was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 15 July 2026.
The framework structure allows Terna to order required works during the contract period without launching a separate procurement process for each maintenance or emergency need.
For the power infrastructure sector, the contracts highlight the continuing importance of grid maintenance, rapid fault response and communications infrastructure in keeping transmission networks reliable and ready for changing operating conditions.
