Vietnam: ACIT Chairman Pham Dinh Thang and his team have been awarded the Tran Dai Nghia Award 2025 for their work in developing and localizing medium voltage electrical switchboards that meet international IEC 62271-200 standards.

The project addresses Vietnam’s historical reliance on imported switchgear, primarily from large multinational firms, which often brought high costs and logistical challenges. ACIT’s new product lines – 24 kV and 40.5 kV switchboards – have passed rigorous testing at KEMA laboratories in the Netherlands and are now used in numerous national projects.

Founded in 2006, ACIT has evolved from a small enterprise to a key player in Vietnam’s electrical equipment and renewable energy sectors. The company now operates four factories, employs around 1,000 workers, and produces approximately $77 M (VND2,000 B) in annual output.

This innovation has also contributed to renewable energy development, with two solar plants and one upcoming wind power project. The company aims to reach over 80 % localization of RMU cabinets by late 2025.

Thang emphasized that mastering technology is vital for national development. The award marks the recognition of a long-term effort to build local capacity and reduce technological dependence.
