India: Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured a $194.2 M (Rs16.6 B) interstate transmission project in Maharashtra, to support the delivery of renewable energy to urban regions.

The project, handled by the newly assigned special-purpose vehicle WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission, will enable the transfer of 1.5 GW of power from upcoming hydro pumped storage facilities in Raigad to Mumbai and nearby areas. It includes the addition of 3,000 MVA of substation capacity and other transmission infrastructure.

Scheduled for commissioning by January 2028, the development will increase AESL’s total network to 26,696 ckm and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity.

The transmission contract was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process managed by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL).

As part of the Adani Group, AESL plays a key role in power transmission, smart metering, and cooling services. It also distributes electricity to over 13 million consumers across Mumbai and Mundra SEZ.

This award follows AESL’s $328 M (Rs28 B) transmission win in Gujarat earlier this year, a project aimed at supporting green hydrogen and ammonia production in Mundra. That initiative involves a 75 km 765 kV double-circuit line linking Navinal and Bhuj substations.
