Blue Elephant adds 37 wind farms
German renewables group adds 381 MW of onshore wind assets at different stages of development, lifting its total portfolio to 2.1 GW.
Germany: Blue Elephant Energy has agreed to acquire a 381-MW portfolio of onshore wind projects in Germany, strengthening its position in one of its key markets.
The Hamburg-based solar and wind operator reached the deal with fellow German developer WIND-projekt in late December 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is still subject to approval from the German Federal Cartel Office and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
The portfolio includes 37 wind farms with a combined capacity of 260 MW that are already producing electricity. It also covers four additional projects totalling 46 MW that are currently under construction and scheduled to start operating later this year.
A further 75 MW comes from wind farms planned for commissioning in 2027. Ownership of these projects will pass to Blue Elephant once construction work begins.
When all the wind farms are fully operational, the portfolio is expected to generate enough power to supply around 33,000 households each year.
After the deal is completed, Blue Elephant’s total renewable energy portfolio will grow to 2.1 GW. Its wind assets in Germany alone will increase to 533 MW.
Tim Kallas, chief investment officer at Blue Elephant, said the acquisition secures a high-quality set of assets and triples the company’s wind capacity in one of its core markets. He added that Blue Elephant intends to continue working closely with WIND-projekt on future projects.
