Poland: In a first for Poland’s offshore wind sector, Ocean Winds has selected Crist Offshore as the first-ever Tier 1 supplier for its BC-Wind project. The companies have signed an agreement covering the design, construction, and commissioning of the project’s offshore electrical substation (OSS)—a crucial component for the country’s wind energy infrastructure.

This milestone strengthens Poland’s offshore wind supply chain, securing over 400 jobs in the shipbuilding industry while advancing Poland and Europe’s energy independence.

The 2,000 t OSS will be built in Gdynia and is expected to be completed by mid-2027. Once operational, it will transmit clean energy from the 390 MW BC-Wind project, supplying power to nearly 500,000 homes annually.

Dan Finch, Country Manager for Ocean Winds in Poland, emphasized the project’s significance:
“This is a historic moment for Poland’s offshore wind industry. Our partnership with CRIST Offshore demonstrates the capability of Polish companies to deliver complex, high-tech projects, further strengthening Poland’s position in the global renewable energy market.”

Ocean Winds (OW) was established as a 50-50 joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE. Committed to accelerating the energy transition, OW develops, finances, builds, and operates offshore wind farms worldwide.

CRIST Offshore, traditionally known for shipbuilding, has expanded its focus to offshore construction. As part of the CRIST Group, Crist Offshore Sp. z o.o. specializes in offshore structures and has successfully delivered over 12,000 t of offshore and subsea construction to date.
