Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company Invests US$150 Millon in Electricity

EETC aims to increase energy generation by 6% to 229.1 GWh.

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has invested EGP7.6 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24 to upgrade and expand Egypt’s high voltage and ultra-high voltage systems. This investment includes:

  1. Developing new stations, cables, and transmission lines
  2. Upgrading regional control centres, including Cairo’s
  3. Establishing a new National Control Center in the New Administrative Capital

 

EETC has made significant progress in maintenance:
– 99% completion rate for transformer station maintenance
– 100% completion for cables
– 97% completion for overhead lines

The company is focusing on:
– Completing ongoing projects
– Enhancing network facilities
– Integrating renewable energy sources into the national grid

Egypt is also pursuing regional energy interconnection projects with Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece, and Italy.
