French construction company Eiffage has been awarded a contract to build a 113 MWp photovoltaic (PV) park in Spain. The project, located in the municipality of Caceres, will be the largest PV installation in the Extremadura region.

The solar park will consist of 235,500 PV modules mounted on trackers that follow the sun’s movement to maximise energy production. It is expected to generate approximately 225 GWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 65,000 households and offset 157,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Eiffage will handle the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project, which includes the installation of 20 transformation centres, a 220 kV substation, and a 20 km underground cable network. The company will also be responsible for connecting the solar park to the national grid.

The project is part of Spain’s efforts to increase its renewable energy capacity and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.Tags: Eiffage, solar park, Spain, Caceres, Extremadura, photovoltaic, PV modules, trackers, energy production, EPC, transformation centres, substation, underground cable, national grid, renewable energy, fossil fuels, electricity, CO2 emissions, households
