Poland: Equinor and Polenergia Group have been awarded construction permits for the Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms off Poland. The permits include the right to construct 100 turbines and associated offshore and onshore substations, cables, and other infrastructure. The projects will have a total capacity of 1440 MW. Securing the permits marks a key step towards making a final investment decision and preparing construction works.

“These investments are a key step in the implementation of our sustainable development strategy and a contribution to the country’s energy transformation,” said Michal Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, President of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland.

The projects will be located in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, about 22 to 37 km from the coastline. The Pomeranian Voivode issued a total of 17 building permits including 100 wind turbines with an internal power and telecommunications network, two offshore substations, subsea export cables, two onshore substations with accompanying infrastructure, 400 kV onshore cable lines with accompanying infrastructure, 220 kV onshore cable lines with accompanying infrastructure and access roads to the onshore power stations. The projects are expected to supply first energy to the grid in 2027, while full commercial operation is planned from 2028.
