Hungary, Tápiószele: One of Hungary’s oldest industrial companies, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd., has launched a transformative €52 M investment programe aimed at significantly expanding its production capabilities and modernizing operations. The initiative, named GANZ 2030, marks a key milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy and positions it to better respond to global energy demands driven by electrification and renewables.
At the heart of the project is the construction of a new transformer manufacturing facility in Tápiószele, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. The nearly 6,500 m² plant will more than double the company’s current capacity and support the rising number of orders tied to the global shift toward electric energy.
In addition to the new factory, the development includes expanded storage, improved material handling systems, and a larger transformer test hall. A dedicated warehouse will also be built to improve raw materials logistics. The refurbishment of old transformers will move into a larger facility of around 600 m² by 2027, supporting the company’s efforts to enhance its sustainability practices through product lifecycle management and reuse.
Ganz also plans to create a dedicated insulation factory using existing buildings and unused space, allowing the company to carry out construction without disrupting ongoing production. The full implementation is expected to span five years.
“This investment is central to our long-term ambitions,” said Gergely Gál, Managing Director of Ganz. “The available space in Tápiószele gives us a significant advantage, enabling us to build a manufacturing hub that supports the energy transition and future demand.”
The GANZ 2030 programe will also drive job creation, with plans to hire at least 200 new employees by 2030. To prepare future talent, the company is launching the Ganz Training Centre, a structured programe designed to train new recruits in transformer and rotating machine manufacturing — the first of its kind in Hungary.
This follows an earlier €12 million technology upgrade at Ganz’s rotating machine plant in 2024, aimed at modernising production and improving competitiveness in Hungary and abroad.
